Park Falls and Surrounding Area

Northern Pines Resort is located in Price County, Wisconsin, just three miles north of Park Falls.  The town of Park Falls is surrounded by over 900,000 acres of federal, state, and county forest.  Park Falls has been named the Ruffed Grouse Capital of the World, and many other types of wildlife are also abundant.  If you venture into forested areas you may have the opportunity to see black bear, whitetail deer, timber wolves, coyotes, porcupine, and badger, as well as many species of bird, including loons, bald eagles, owls, and great blue herons.

Opportunities for fishing and boating abound in the area, with uncrowded waterways such as the North and South Forks of the Flambeau River, Turtle Flambeau Flowage, the Boundary Water Experience, and of course, Butternut Lake right outside the front door of your cabin at Northern Pines.

Hunting in the area is excellent, with minimal competition from other hunters in the large area of public lands that are available.  Park Falls boasts ideal habitats for ruffed grouse and black bear.  There are many acres of public lands open for those that hunt with dogs.  Park Falls also has a very large deer population per square mile.  Guide service is available upon request.

Community Events and Things to Do

Northern Pines offers many activities for its guests, including a level, sandy beach for swimming with a stationary swim raft, children's playground, half-court basketball area, horseshoe pits, a private boat launch for venturing onto the lake, and snowmobile trails on the property.  Nearby facilities include bowling, golf, hiking trails, cross country ski trails, ATV trails, hunting, fishing, numerous county parks, and a casino.

The Park Falls Chamber of Commerce hosts a gala summer celebration each year during the first weekend of August.  Flambeau Rama offers four days of fun with music and entertainment in the heart of town.  Activities include a frog jumping contest, bed race competitions, softball and baseball tournaments, kiddie costume parade and races, and many other fun-filled events for all ages.  Several fishing tournaments are held throughout the summer months at various lakes in the area.  An annual muskie tournament, held in August, is hosted by our resort.  And don't miss the Labor Day ATV Rally for the poker run, mud run, trail challenge, music, hog roast, games, and raffles.

Summer isn't the only season!  Price County offers many winter activities such as the Annual American Legion Turkey Shoot, a fall harvest festival, and many holiday activities for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
